Early morning flight to Costa Rica
So, let’s start with the early morning flight. You know the struggle, right? Our flight left at 5:17 am so we could get an early start in Costa Rica. Everything we read said not to drive at night in the mountains especially during rainy season. I was thankful for Enterprise Rental Car upgrading our SUV to a 4×4 since those winding mountain roads can make your heart race faster than a toucan’s wings. But hey the adrenaline rush and smell of burning brakes was totally worth it for the breathtaking views at the El Silencio Lodge and Spa.
This road trip kicked off with all the usual tension and chaos. Picture this: Beto’s phone suddenly decides it’s too cool for service, leaving us relying solely on my phone for directions. But guess what? My phone was at a measly 15% battery, and to top it off, I forgot my USB charger for the car. Talk about a comedy of errors! We had to summon our inner Zen masters as we embarked on a quest to find our hotel that was over an hour away. Let me tell you, Beto handled it like a true pro, while I…well, let’s just say I provided some quality entertainment with my mini meltdowns along the way!
El Silencio is a stunning retreat nestled in the the tranquil cloud forest, spanning over 500 acres of natural beauty. The lodge offers a serene environment where we woke up to the songs of birds and went on hikes surrounded by fluttering hummingbirds. The experience of hiking to the hidden waterfall is both exhilarating and peaceful, with the opportunity to immerse oneself in the refreshing waters of the final waterfall.
After indulging in adventurous activities like hiking and bike riding into town, we pampered ourselves with a couples massage in the serene forest surroundings. This experience of ultimate relaxation was nothing short of blissful, and highly recommend it to others seeking a soothing escape.
Walk to the spa
After doing so many different activities from archery to a full moon sound bath we moved on to the next destination. We drove through the colorful towns of Costa Rica, enjoying the vibrant scenery as we made our way to Playa Hermosa. Playa Hermosa is a beautiful destination known for it’s black sand beach and chill atmosphere. It was the perfect place to walk the beach in the morning, watch the surfers ride the waves and take in the stunning sunsets at night. It was the place to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and truly relax and reconnect.
